another day

Well, got my house cleaned up after last night, whew! That was no easy feat. Had a very enjoyable morning with my little ones. Katy has been sick for so long, she is finally feeling better and I'm so happy to have my little princess back. She is smiley and laughing and plays on her own, it's fantastic. I missed her. About lunch time, the school called, Rhett had a fever. He has been on the couch ever since. He won't take any medicine cuz he doesn't want to swallow a pill. He's getting a little old for children's liquid. Spent some time today working on 72 hr. kits. That time of year again! I always do all the gathering and shopping for the contents and then we get together as a family and assemble them the Monday after General Conference. I totally love doing stuff like that. Feels good to be prepared!
My mom had a very scary incident last night. When she came home around 12:30 am , someone was trying to break in to her house! They had cut the screen on her security door, taken out the motion lights, and broken a window in her back yard. That was when she came home. She thinks her turning on the lights must have scared him away. I can't even imagine how you sleep after that. She can't get her window fixed until tomorrow. I begged her to go stay with someone else for a few days but she said no. Luckily, I have this really wonderful sister-in-law who agreed to go spend a few days there until she can get her window fixed and a security system installed. Thanks Donna!
Still trying to figure out how to - as Glade would put it - "manipulate" my children into the best possible situations for their success. Contemplating home schooling for Nick for the rest of the year. I so regret taking him out of Franklin. I tried to get him back in today, but he's 8th on the waiting list. Not looking so good. It definitely makes my decision with Stephen easier, he stays!
Chelsey tried out for the advanced dance team on Friday and she made it! She is so excited. Whitley has decided to give track a try. Interesting. We'll see if she sticks it out. I was quite surprised and pleased that Chelsey did. Friday, Stephen goes to Tucson for the state Geography Bee. I'm excited to see how he does. He has been studying his Globe!
I was only able to get in a quick workout today. Opted to stay home and be responsible getting my house in order instead. Still did 40 min on the treadmill, not too bad. I just have to stop eating. Didn't do too bad until dinner. That dang cracker chicken, thanks Amy. I'm still behind 8 pages on my B of M reading. I'm determined to get caught up. It really feels good when your body and spirit both get exercise!
Time to go start Family Home Evening. Brooklyn and Dalin have prepared a lesson on how to get along with each other. This should be good!

Sunday

Well, didn't go to church today. My great day yesterday did not end so great! No good movie playing so my date was short, which was ok, I was really tired. Upon returning home, we found some disturbing things on our children's computer. After some very thorough spy work, we found the culprit and hopefully took care of the problem. We have had a filter for a long time now, just never took the time to install it. Dang! After finally solving that mystery, Katy woke up throwing up, first in her bed then in mine! I'm so lucky to have a husband who will take puke duty. Sure made for a long night though. I stayed home from church with her and got some laundry done. Spent the afternoon scrapbooking for my Gramma B. She is turning 80 in May.
She lives in Illinois and I don't get to see her nearly enough. I do get to fly home with Katelyn for her big party though, I'm so excited! Anyway, on her 70th birthday, I made her a scrapbook with all of her posterity in it. She has requested an updated one for her 80th. It is a true labor of love. We had Sunday dinner at our house as always. Glade's whole family comes over and it's quite fun for all the cousins to get to play and for us to catch up with each other. My house is a wreck, but there's always tomorrow! Other than missing church, it's been a pretty good day. Another dry day for Bo, wooohooo!

playing around

this is my first digital scrapbook page, just playing around seeing what all i can do here!

What a good day! Had to be at the church at 7 am for a service breakfast for the elderly. Our activity day girls helped to plan and cook the breakfast and then served our guests. It went really well. Came home and got some laundry done, cracked the whip on my children to get their saturday chores done, and eventually had a nap! Went to the gym for a really good work out. Came home to take my beautiful girls to a Young Women's broadcast. I'm so lucky to have 2 wonderful girls who still love doing what's right. Now I'm gonna jump through the shower to head out on a date with my darling husband. Wanted to go to a movie, but there's not much playing. Katy has been outside most of the day, she loves it! My two strong boys have helped their dad outside in the yard and it looks terrific. I love having a big yard! My middle three have been extremely lazy. Can't seem to get Rhett and Dalin off the computer. All in all it really has been a great day. Not much to complain about. Just hoping for a good movie! Tomorrow is fast Sunday, haven't fasted in years! I'm gonna do it though. Hooray for day 2!

This is my first blog! I have no idea what I am doing or why, everyone just says you should! My name is Laurie and I live in Arizona. I have been very happily married for over 17 years now and have 9 fabulous children. 5 boys and 4 lovely ladies. My oldest is about to be 16 and my baby just turned one!

I guess I will just be using this as a journal since I have not been very successful at that! I'm not sure anything I have to say will be of any interest to anyone else, but at least my family's experiences will be documented.

My hubby has a bakery business that he runs with his father and siblings which allows me to be a stay at home mom and I love every minute of it, well almost!
I enjoy music, softball, dancing, and scrapbooking (even though I am very far behind). I am very active in my church and love to serve.

Right now I am aggressively engaged in trying to get my body back after 16 years of pregnancy and nursing. I'm sure there will be much news about my progress in that area. I'm hoping to do better at documenting all the fun things that happen with my family. As I'm sure you can imagine, my family can be very entertaining! Well, that's me in a nutshell. Hooray for day 1!!
