It's almost here! There was a chill in the air today! I know it was only temporary and it's going to be 97 again by next week, but today was wonderful. I almost wished I had a jacket on. That means the holidays and all the joys and wonders that come with it are right around the corner. It almost makes me giddy. No, it does make me giddy! I also got good news that my mom is going to be in town for Thanksgiving. Normally she is in IL for the holiday, but this year she'll be back by Thursday. I have to say I kinda like that!
What is Christmas?
This is the conversation I had with Bo. Whitley was getting ready in my bathroom and wanted to listen to Christmas music so I put some on. Bo asked what this music was. I told him Christmas music and proceeded to tell him about real Christmas. I thought this was going to be awesome, explain about the birth of Christ and why we really have Christmas. The minute I said it was Jesus' birthday, he went right into how many birthdays he was going to have and how old Katy would be. Totally lost him. I tried to go back and reiterate, but he was way to excited about when his birthday would be (April). Then the song "Santa Claus is coming to town" came on. I started singing it to him and his little eyes lit up and by the end of the song, he was singing right along. Then he asked "Who is Santa, where is he, why?" Then I realized he really didn't have much of an idea about that Christmas either. So now all the kids are out watching "The Santa Clause". I figured tomorrow I would show him the video we have showing the birth of the Savior so he could understand that as well. I know it's only October, but.......Whatever!

Did you feel it?
Movie Review - Fireproof
Bring tissues. The acting was far from superior, but not as bad as some would claim. It really was very good. We laughed and were tense in the rescue scenes and cried like babies at the end. It is very religious, kind of weird to see that at on the big screen but way more worth $9 that a lot of other crap I have seen. I'm not sure I would call it a chick flick. It's really not romance. Anyway, I give it two thumbs up and highly recommend it.

Glade loves me
Thursday was pretty uneventful. Gym, Costco, after school stuff. I had one highlight. Two of my friends agreed to come camping with me. I hope they don't bail on me, I think it will be totally fun. My kids are way excited. It will be nice and chilly which makes for great campfires and hot chocolate!
Today Glade and I ran together outside. I did my first outside 5 and a half miles. It was tough. I woke up with cramps anyway so I really didn't want to go, but I did want to go with Glade. I sucked it up and I'm glad I did. He let me go at my pace, he loves me. At least it gave me the confidence that I can do the Turkey Trot, even if it's not very fast. Now if I can just figure out how to cook dinner while I'm away running!
Tonight we are supposed to go see a movie. I read about it online. It's called Fireproof. The entire cast are volunteers, including Kirk Cameron. It's put on by a Christian group and the main theme is about a firefighter fighting for his marriage. It's been on the top 10 for 2 weeks now. I'm anxious to see a nice clean movie with a good moral. That might be worth my $9.

Life is Peachy
The last few days have just been Peachy, literally. Tonight we finished pealing the peaches that were too ripe to can. We chopped them up and made jam out of them. This was the conclusion of Chelsey's project. She says she never wants to see another peach again. At this point, I would have to agree. My friend Julia sent me to get some jars at a grocery store she was at. I was so grateful to finally find them. As I drove there I couldn't help but wonder "What the heck are you shopping clear out here for??" It wasn't very close. Nonetheless, I got jars. I came home to finish the pears only to find that most of the box was mush. They don't look it, but when you touch them, they totally squish, almost like they are hollow. I ended up with 3 stupid jars or pears. Not even worth processing. We will be having them for Sunday breakfast or something! What a waste. I bought extra jars though so I won't run into this again.
